Diagnostics

In-House Lab
Our office provides in-house laboratory testing.  We also work closely with Idexx veterinary laboratory which offers a wide variety of test procedures.  If necessary, we may elect to submit samples to a university laboratory if they offer a superior test.  This testing is equivalent to that which is performed in state-of-the-art human laboratories.  This enables us to choose the most appropriate diagnostic plan for your pet.

Digital X-Ray
Digital radiography is a form of x-ray imaging that uses a digital image capture device.  This allows for immediate viewing, bypasses the chemical processing step, and reduces the need for retaking x-rays, thereby lessening radiation exposure.  Our digital x-ray equipment provides us with high quality radiographs which help in the diagnosis of many conditions.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is an extremely valuable tool in veterinary medicine, particularly since our patients can't tell us where it hurts.  A lot can be learned about your pet's health in a relatively short amount of time, and the information gained may be priceless.  The procedure is painless and noninvasive for your pet and can provide details regarding internal organ health and function that is not possible with x-ray.  Ultrasound allows us to detect growths and masses or simply to get more specific information about something detected on an x-ray.  Dr. Bernardini is well versed in the use of ultrasound and can perform detailed studies of the heart, abdomen, thyroid and eye.
